Auditions for MASC’s 2019 summer musical Mamma Mia will be at St Stephen Church in Marshall on Saturday, Mar 30th at 3 pm and Sunday, March 31st at 7 pm.

Marshall Area Stage Company October Board Meeting

MAFAC October 7, 2018 7:00pm

Attendance: Paula Nemes, Brian-Paco (Jonathan), Bill Moudry, Bob Schwoch, Maureen Keimig, Judy Houselog, Brent Lamfers and Ross Holmberg.

-Meeting called to order at 7:11 pm.

I. Bill motioned to approve the September minutes. Judy seconded; motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report- emailed to Board by Brent. Hat money for Shakespeare was $163.00. $200.00 was received for MASC tech services. Brent contacted

     Tickets to the City reference lost check. Maureen motioned to approve report. Brian seconded; motion carried.

III. Old Business

A. Brent continues to monitor website so it’s up to date.

B. Committee Reports:

a. Production Manual/Liability/ Process Timelines- No new info at this time.

b. Costume Inventory- Judy(Lead)-Garage sale has been postponed.

C. Radio Drama, Winter Stories directed by Paula Nemes- moved to 2019- Saturday Feb 2 at 2pm and 6:30 pm and Monday Feb 4 at 6:30 pm.

     Auditions January 6 and 7 at MAFAC at 5pm. Brian motioned for free will offering for admission with 50/50 split with library. Ross seconded; motion carried.

D. Spring Show -MACTFest- Meeting set for 11-11-18 at 2 pm at Perkins to work on SMAC grant.

E. Mamma Mia! 2019 Musical- Good response at Parade for Mamma Mia promotion.

IV. New Business

A. Tech Support- Flats and Props loan to Calumet Players for Doublewide, Texas- Oct. 12-21

B. Recycling Promo Videos- Roger Schroeder-nothing new at this time.

C. Sound upgrades- SMAC Equipment Grant- Brent will email SMAC to extend project end date.

F. MASC 2019/2020 Season proposals Survey Monkey form- Waiting for update from Becki.

G. MASC Collaboration w/ LBOH on 1776 in Fall of 2019 is no longer being considered.

H. Patron Drive- Update- Brian suggested we do a go fund me during our drive. Maureen would like the Board to think

     about using the funds to purchase new video equipment.

I. SMSU- Homecoming Parade October 6th -Thank you to those who participated.

J. SMAC Artist Retreat, Ortonville, September 29th –None of the MASC Board attended this year.

K. Light Up The Night- Independence Park- Brian motioned to participate this year. Paula seconded; motion carried. Paula is willing to direct

    “How the Grinch Stole Christmas’. Performances will be on Sunday, December 16th at 5:30 and 7:00 pm.

L. Elections:

 President- Bob Schwoch

Vice President- Ross Holmberg

Secretary- Maureen Keimig

Treasurer- Brett Lamfers

Paula motioned to accept the slate of Board officers as given. Brian seconded; motion carried.

2- At Large Members- Open (Mike Lenz declined), Ryan Juutilainen is still willing to serve another term. Bill nominated Brian for the open at large member position. Brian accepted

nomination. Ross motioned for blanket acceptance of slate for at large members. Paula seconded; motion carried.

Extra Business: Ross motioned to pay $15.00 for the Christmas Tree Walk at the Lyon Co Museum. Brian seconded; motion carried.

MASC September Board Meeting Minutes

September 9, 2018 7:00 pm  MAFAC

Attendance: Bob Schwoch, Maureen Keimig, Ross Holmberg, Brent Lamfers, Paula Nemes, Judy Houselog, Annie Magnuson and Brian Paco.

I. Approve the August Minutes- Brent motioned to approve; Annie seconded. Motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report- Balance of checking account = $14,942.98. All Shakespeare bills have been paid. Still outstanding for Chicago is the fee for the rental of the SMSU theater. Additional mics were purchased from the Note Gallery for $1248. Maureen motioned to approve report; Annie seconded. Motion carried.

III. Old Business

A. Website Management– For now, Brent and Emilirose are the only administrators on the MASC website. WordPress is updating. Request from Emilirose to be added to the MASC email list. Send photos from this year´s MASC season to Emilirose for the website and Maureen for the Facebook page.

B. Committee Reports:

a. Production Manual/Liability/ Process Timelines- nothing new at this time.

b. Costume Inventory- Possible garage sale date is the weekend of 9/28-29.

C. Antony and Cleopatra, directed by Annie Magnusson, August 17-19- Evaluation-There was a good showing for audiences. Friday-31 and Saturday 46, Sunday performance cancelled due to weather. Discussion started on who decides if a show should be traveled, the director or MASC? It was decided that it should be brought up during the proposal and the MASC Board should approve. Also discussed was whether we should change parks. For now, it is still the bandshell park.

D. Radio Drama, directed by Paula Nemes- moved to 2019-Either end of January or first weekend in February. Paula would like to do winter stories. Brent will file extension for grant evaluation with SMAC for using the new sound equipment purchased with the grant funds.

E. Rest-A-Spell, Spring Show/ MACT*Fest, directed by Maureen Keimig-need to set a date at the library to preview show and apply for a SMAC grant for travel expenses. Next deadline in December.  The Board will meet on November 11th at 2:00 pm to work on grant.

IV. New Business-

A. Tech Support– no requests at this time.

B. Recycling Promo Videos– Roger Schroeder-Maureen needs to write a script for ad.

C. US Bank Grant, Check received June 28, 2017 and wireless mics were purchased.

D. Sound upgrades– SMAC Equipment Grant- File project extension-

                                   Mixer and Speakers used for MAFAC, still need a case.

F. MASC 2019/2020 Season proposals  Survey Monkey form-so far we have one proposal for   Shakespeare in the Park 2019.

K. SMSU- Friends of the Theater-Maureen motioned to continue to donate $250 for Friends of  the Theater; Brian seconded. Motion carried.

   Homecoming Parade October 6th- Brian motioned for Bob to be point person for Homecoming Parade; Judy seconded. Motion carried.
